ProConnect is an initiative sponsored by the area colleges and universities and other employers that assists organizations with efforts to hire professionals in the region. Initially, the group explored ways that area organizations could share resources to help place “accompanying spouses” or those professional persons who typically follow a professional hire moving to the region. For example, a local hospital is recruiting a physician from Maryland and the physician’s husband is a finance manager. Often, the doctor’s acceptance of the job offer will be contingent upon the husband finding suitable employment alternatives. Through the ProConnect, the hospital could share information on the husband with other area employers and increase his chances of finding employment. In sum, the group is working to increase professional recruitment and diversity hiring in the region.
